COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,333 new cases, 47 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,230,238 on Wednesday after 2,333 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 452,267 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 424,701 in Punjab, 171,874 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,796 in Balochistan, 104,472 in Islamabad 10,264 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 33,864 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 51,139 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 4.56%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 27,374 with 47 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,140,917 after another 3,261 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has decided to lift additional Covid-19 restrictions in six districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Gujrat and Bannu after a decline in cases.

According to a Radio Pakistan report, general coronavirus-related restrictions will continue to be enforced till the end of September. A review meeting will be held on Sept 28.

The NCOC urged people to get fully vaccinated without any delay, as abundant Sinopharm vaccine doses are available, the report said.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 230.332 million and death toll tops 4,723,042.
