Tayyaba torture case: IHC suspends former judge, wife jail term

Islamabad (Staff Report): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday suspended the jail sentence awarded to former additional district and sessions judge Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife Maheen Zafar in Tayyaba torture case.

Raja Khurram and Maheen had appealed in the apex court against their conviction.

On April 17, the IHC announced its verdict in the case related to torturing a child maid after over a year-long period of proceedings.

IHC Justice Aamer Farooq ruled that the suspended judge and his wife would serve a year each in prison for torturing the child maid under Section 328-A (cruelty to a child).

The two were also fined Rs 50,000 each for the crime of employing an underage (below 12 years of age) child.
