COVID-19: Pakistan reports 5,870 new cases 144 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 784,108 on Friday after 5,870 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 275,815 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 282,469 in Punjab, 110,875 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 21,365 in Balochistan, 72,150 in Islamabad 5,241 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 16,193 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 16,842 with 144 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 682,290 after another 5,685 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Thursday that Pakistan has received a tranche of procured 0.5 million doses of Chinese-based company SinoVac's vaccine.

The NCOC said that Pakistan had purchased these doses as they were not part of the donation from China.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 143.445 million and death toll tops 3.051 million.
