Pakistan receives more two million doses of COVID-19 vaccine from China

Islamabad (Web Desk): A special PIA plane carrying two million doses of Covid-19 vaccine has arrived in Islamabad from China.

The NDMA officials received the vaccine at Islamabad International Airport.

According to the National Command and Operation Center, on Wednesday at least 39 more deaths and 1,043 new positive cases were reported due COVID-19 in the country during the last 24 hours.

The NCOC said at least 54,647 tests were conducted yesterday and positivity ratio remained one point nine zero per cent.

The death toll due to pandemic infection has reached 21,913 and active cases of disease are now 35,809.

On Monday, Pakistan signed an agreement with Pfizer Pakistan under which it would receive 13 million doses of the American vaccine.

“The agreement was signed by Pfizer Pakistan and the National Disaster Manage­ment Authority (NDMA) to supply 13 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine (BNT162b2). Deliveries are planned during the course of 2021,” said a statement issued by a publicity firm.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 179.556 million and death toll tops 3.888 million.
