COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,357 new cases, 58 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,232,595 on Thursday after 2,357 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 453,051 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 425,703 in Punjab, 172,210 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,812 in Balochistan, 104,619 in Islamabad 10,277 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 33,923 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 48,151 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 4.89%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 27,432 with 58 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,143,605 after another 2,688 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the wife of President Arif Alvi, Samina Alvi on Thursday said that she has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I was tested positive for covid, a day before. I have a little bit of weakness but Alhamdulillah doing well otherwise. Request all to keep me in your prayers please,” she wrote in a post on Twitter.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 230.918 million and death toll tops 4,733,350.
