US envoy, Senate Chairman Gilani discuss bilateral ties

Islamabad: US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome called on Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani at the parliament house in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The US ambassador felicitated Gilani on assuming the office of the Senate chairman.

During the meeting, both the leaders discussed Pakistan-US bilateral relations as well as the promotion of public-level contacts.

A day earlier, the US ambassador attended the inauguration of a Police Training College campus in Quetta, marking the commencement of a four-year, $5.35 million collaboration funded by the US Embassy’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section.

During his address at the ceremony, Ambassador Blome highlighted the significance of the seven new and four renovated buildings within the campus.

The envoy emphasized that these additions not only triple the capacity of the Police Training College but also ensure that new recruits and officers receive skills-based, high-quality training essential for deployment in Pakistan’s most challenging areas.
