4.7 magnitude earthquake jolts Gilgit, adjoining areas

Gilgit (Staff Report): A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Gilgit and its adjoining areas late Wednesday night.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that the earthquake magnitude was recorded as 4.7 on the Richter scale, adding that its depth was registered at 15 kilometres.

The PMD also mentioned that the earthquake's epicentre was 37 kilometres southwest of Skardu.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damages.
