COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,196 new cases, 50 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 574,580 on Wednesday after 1,196 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 256,741 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 168,891 in Punjab, 71,282 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,004 in Balochistan, 43,753 in Islamabad, 4,954 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 9,955 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 12,708 with 50 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 538,207 after another 1,964 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Emirates has become among the first airlines in the world to operate a flight with fully vaccinated frontline teams servicing customers at every touchpoint of the travel journey.

In a statement on Tuesday, the UAE-based airline said in a statement that the flight, EK215, which departed Dubai for Los Angeles, was safely supported by check-in, security, business and first class lounge and boarding gate employees, as well as engineers, pilots and cabin crew who made the choice to be fully vaccinated.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 111.419,000 million and death toll tops 2.470,000 million.
