FM Qureshi meets Chinese counterpart in Beijing

Beijing (Agencies): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing.

The two parties discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, especially the Afghanistan peace process in the meeting. Delegation-Level talks were also held by both sides.

The foreign minister, who reached China as part of his four-nation tour, was received at the airport by Chinese Foreign Ministry officials.

The FM called China Pakistan Economic Corridor of extensive strategic importance for Pakistan and the region. The Minister said the CPEC reflects the One Belt One Road vision of Chinese President. He said Sino-Pak friendship has great appreciation at public as well as government level.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi conveyed a special message of felicitation to the Chinese leadership on behalf of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

“FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on his tour to regional countries, has held discussions with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Bilateral and regional issues, especially peace in #Afghanistan discussed,” Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Faisal said in a tweet.

Qureshi’s three-day long visit of the regional countries – Afghanistan, Iran, China and Russia – aims at promoting various initiatives and ideas, including the Afghanistan peace process, for regional cooperation.
