COVID-19: Pakistan reports 3,009 new infections, 59 deaths in 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 382,892 on Wednesday after 3,009 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 166,033 cases were reported in Sindh, 115,786 in Punjab, 45,314 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,891 in Balochistan, 27,979 in Islamabad, 4,573 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 6,316 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 7,803 with 59 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 332,974 after another 1,214 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Ministry of National Health Services (NHS), Pakistan has successfully completed a second round of Covid-19 study that shows around 7% (15 million) people are exposed to the virus.

Pakistan is among the few countries that have conducted and completed the Sero-prevalence study in big and small cities.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 59.6 million and death toll tops 1.400 million.
