COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,541 new cases, 32 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 577,482 on Friday after 1,541 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 257,408 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 170,222 in Punjab, 71,728 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,035 in Balochistan, 44,032 in Islamabad, 4,956 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 10,101 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 12,804 with 32 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 542,393 after another 2,505 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi has criticised VIPs, the elite and the powerful for breaking the queue for Covid-19 vaccinations, describing the act as "shameful".

Referring to a report from a US newspaper, he said that Pakistan has remained safe from this attitude.

 "This is Naya Pakistan of merit and we must take pride," President Alvi tweeted.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 112.209,000 million and death toll tops 2.490,000 million.
