India’s Republic Day: Kashmiris observe Black Day today

Islamabad (Staff Report): Kashmiris of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are observing India’s Republic Day as “Black Day”.

Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Yasin Malik, Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have called for a complete strike in the occupied territory.

Protest demonstrations will be held against Indian occupation in occupied territory and important capital cities around the world.

India, a so-called democratic state, has denied Kashmiris and their right to self determination for the past six decades despite approval of many UN resolutions over the issue.

From past six decades, the Indian forces have subjected Kashmiris to severe torture including murders and rape incidents. Many Kashmiris have lost their eye-sight due to excessive use of force by the Indian occupation forces including the use of pellet guns in unrest after killing of Burhan Wani, a young commander of the pro-independence fighters.

On the eve of India’s Republic Day, the entire occupied Kashmir especially Srinagar and Jammu has been put under siege.

Large battalions of Indian troops and police personnel have been deployed in every nook and corner of the occupied territory causing huge inconvenience to the people.
