COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,873 new cases, 58 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 535,914 on Tuesday after 1,873 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 242,054 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 154,717 in Punjab, 65,740 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,754 in Balochistan, 40,892 in Islamabad, 4,902 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and  8,855 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 11,376 with 58 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 490,126 after another 1,223 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the provinces have informed the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) that they had almost completed the training of the staff of teaching hospitals and tehsil and district hospitals regarding Covid-19 vaccination.

A meeting of the NCOC, presided over by National Coordinator Lt Gen Hamood Uz Zaman Khan, was also informed that all foreign travelers, especially from the United Kingdom (UK) and South Africa, were being tested at the airports and those tested positive were being quarantined.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 98.7 million and death toll tops 2.124,000 million.
