Transgender person gets driving licence in Islamabad

Islamabad (Staff Report): The capital city police on Monday issued driving licence to a transgender person, Ali Layla.

According to a police official, the licence has been issued after administering all practical driving tests. This is the first time a transgender individual has been issued a driving licence in the federal capital, he added.

Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar also met Layla and assured to resolve the problems of transgender community, he maintained.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had issued driving licences to 15 transgender persons in March this year.
