COVID-19: Pakistan reports 572 new cases, 6 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,269,806 on Tuesday after 572 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 468,164 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 439,307 in Punjab, 177,553 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33,204 in Balochistan, 106,749 in Islamabad 10,386 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,443 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 42,096 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.35%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,392 with 6 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,217,218 after another 310 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has appreciated all the federating units including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan for enhanced vaccination drive under the Obligatory Regime launched from 15th of this month.

A session of NCOC chaired by its National Coordinator Major General Zafar Iqbal took detailed stock of epidemic curve chart data, vaccination targets and progress on obligatory regime.

The forum directed the federating units to ensure strict compliance of denial of services to non-vaccinated individuals in all sectors and ensure vaccination on spot through mobile teams.

The NCOC also directed provinces to increase vaccination in major urban centres with relatively low vaccination rates.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 244.928 million and death toll tops 4,972,633.
