COVID19: Pakistan reports 1,853 new cases, 58 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 471,337 on Sunday after 1,853 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 9,874 with 58 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

The figure of active COVID cases in the country is 39,329 while 422,132 people have been recovered from the virus.

Meanwhile, Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Thursday approved duty and tax free import of cryogenic oxygen tanks for better handling of COVID-19 situation.

Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh chaired the meeting of the committee in Islamabad.

The duty free import of cryogenic tanks would ensure uninterrupted supply of oxygen gas at competitive rates.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 77.9 million and death toll tops 1.7 million.
