Sindh shuts educational institutions for 2 days amid fear of coronavirus

Karachi (Staff Report): The Sindh government has announced that all private and public educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday (today) and Friday (February 27 and 28) across the province.

“All Govt and private educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday & Friday (27th & 28th Feb),” Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said in a tweet.

The development comes after Pakistan detected its first two cases of novel coronavirus. The cases have been reported one each in Sindh and a federal area.

Sindh Health Department confirmed that a young man, Syed M Yahya Jaffri, in Karachi has been diagnosed with the mysterious contagion.

COVID-19 broke out in the central Chinese province of Hubei in December. The mysterious disease has killed over 2,700 people, mostly in the epicentre of the outbreak. Outside mainland China, the virus has spread to more than 30 countries.
