COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,563 new cases, 74 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 537,477 on Wednesday after 1,563 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 242,793 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 155,214 in Punjab, 65,953 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 18,765 in Balochistan, 40,972 in Islamabad, 4,903 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 8,877 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 11,450 with 74 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 490,126 after another 1,223 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) issued fresh clinical advice on Tuesday for treating Covid-19 patients, including those displaying persistent symptoms after recovery, and also said it advised using low-dose anti-coagulants to prevent blood clots.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 100 million and death toll tops 2.124,000 million.
