COVID-19: Pakistan reports 7,539 new cases, 25 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,393,887 on Thursday after 7,539 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 533,496 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 469,540 in Punjab, 187,983 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 34,131 in Balochistan, 122,098 in Islamabad, 10,557 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 36,082 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 63,272 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 11.91%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 29,162 with 25 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,272,871 after another 1,784 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Quetta Gladiators star player Shahid Afridi has tested positive for coronavirus as Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to kick off today.

As per the details, the cricketer got out of the isolation bubble for examination regarding his health. Afridi will have to spend at least three more days in isolation.

Earlier, Karachi Kings President Wasim Akram, and two Zalmi players Wahab Riaz and Haider Ali too contracted the coronavirus.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 363,542 million and death toll tops 5,646,978.
