Imran accuses Asif Zardari of financing his assassination plot

Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan on Friday accused Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of hatching a plot to assassinate him after the failure of previous two attempts.

In a televised address, the PTI chief accused former president Asif Zardari of paying money to a terrorist outfit to carry out the latest assasination attempt on his life as they, according to him, have masde plan C.

"I got to know about it and then I recorded my video explaining the attack. In a public rally, I announced that I would release the video if something were to happen to me. They stepped back after this."

Without naming anyone again, Imran Khan said that another plan was made to have me killed by a religious extremist — indicating towards the November 3, 2022, Wazirabad attack, where he was shot in the legs and is still recovering from the injuries.

"Now, there's a Plan C. Asif Zardari is behind this. He has amassed a lot of money through corruption and he has invested that money in terrorists and hired a militant organisation, "the former premier said adding that people from powerful agencies were facilitating the plot to kill him.

The PTI chief said that irrespective of whatever was planned, he would be back in the streets as soon as he recovered from the injuries he had sustained during the Wazirabad attack.

“But if something happens to me, my nation should know who was behind it,” Khan said.
Speaking about worsening situation in the country, the PTI chief said that the state of Pakistan’s economy could put Pakistan’s national security at risk.

“Those who will bailout Pakistan out of this condition, will ask for a price. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has asked Egypt and Sri Lanka to reduce their armies and it can ask us to do the same,” the former premier said said.

He warned that the depreciating rupee, declining foreign exchange reserves, and skyrocketing inflation would not just affect the people, but also Pakistan’s security.

Lashing out at the caretaker setup in Punjab, Imran Khan said that PTI's worst opponents have been appointed at important positions.
