Islamabad (Web Desk): The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former premier Imran Khan protective bail till May 3 in mutiny case registered against him in the federal capital.
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, who presided over the hearing, approved Imran’s bail against the submission of surety bonds worth Rs100,000.
A case had been registered against the PTI chief in Islamabad's Ramna police station on April 6 by municipal magistrate Manzoor Ahmed Khan for "spreading hatred between institutions and the public, and attempting to cause unforgivable damage to top officers and institutions".
Earlier in the day, the former premier pleaded for protective bail in the case through his solicitors.
The absence of biometric verification was one of the objections the registrar’s office had to the argument.
The PTI legal team has addressed and resolved objections to the plea raised by the registrar’s office.
Imran Khan's legal team filed a petition on his behalf, contending that the incumbent government has lodged the case against him for political reasons and to tarnish his reputation.
The petition also urged the court to quash the FIR.
As per the petition, the government has failed to find any corruption against the PTI chief and is therefore dragging him into frivolous cases to blackmail him.
Imran Khan was granted protective bail in the case till April 26 by the Lahore High Court (LHC) on April 14.
