Schools in Punjab to reopen on August 2: minister

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas on Thursday announced that all public and private schools in the province will reopen from August 2.

In a tweet, the minister said that all schools will be operating at 50% capacity on any given day.

He also urged the officials of schools to ensure the implementation of the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government.

The decision came following the virtual meeting on chaired by the Acting Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education Asif Haider and attended by provincial education secretaries on Wednesday.

The forum decided that summer vacation for education institutions will not be extended while board examinations will be held as per the schedule.

Meanwhile, the federal education ministry has directed the provincial departments to make decision about reopening of schools according to the positivity ratio in the respective regions.
