SHC grants bail to Dr Asim in Rs479 bn corruption case

Karachi (Staff Report): The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday approved the bail petition of PPP’s leader and former petroleum minster Dr Asim Hussain in the corruption cases against him.

The SHC’s referee judge approved the bail on medical grounds, after having reserved his judgement on March 20.

Earlier on February 2, a two-judge bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Farooq Shah and Muhammad Karim Khan Agha gave a split judgment in the matter. SHC chief justice had appointed Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar as a referee judge to decide the bail applications.

Dr Asim, a close aide of former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, faces corruption references of Rs 479 billion.
