Farogh Naseem takes oath as federal minister

Islamabad (Web Desk): Senator Farogh Naseem was sworn in as the federal law minister on Friday.

President Arif Alvi administered the oath to Farogh during a ceremony at the President House.

Barrister Farogh Naseem had resigned on Tuesday to represent Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in a case in the Supreme Court (SC) regarding extension in his tenure.

On Thursday, the SC permitted the federal government to grant a six-month extension to COAS Bajwa.

A three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and comprising Justice Mazhar Alam Khan and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the case.

In its short order, the top court directed the government to bring necessary legislation within six months' time regarding the extension of the COAS.
