COVID-19: Pakistan reports 4,084 new cases, 100 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 663,200 on Tuesday after 4,084 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 265,158 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 217,694 in Punjab, 86,044 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,535 in Balochistan, 57,204 in Islamabad 5,016 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 12,549 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 14,356 with 100 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 600,278 after another 2,081 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan has urged people to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of coronavirus as pressure on hospitals is growing with rising number of patients.

The SAPM said that people should avoid going to gatherings in closed places. He hailed the health authorities and front line health workers for their efforts to fight the pandemic.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 126.890,000 million and death toll tops 2.780, 000 million.
