COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,839 new cases, 40 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 398,024 on Monday after 2,839 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 173,014 cases were reported in Sindh, 119,035 in Punjab, 47,190 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,158 in Balochistan, 30,123 in Islamabad, 4,649 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 6,855 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 8,025 with 40 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 341,423 after another 1,613 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, 5,082 smart lockdowns are in place across the country to contain the spread of the virus.

As per the details, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) was informed that 1,459 smart lockdowns are in place in Punjab, 206 in Sindh, 182 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), 3,205 in Islamabad and 30 in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

There is a complete lockdown in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) until December 6. The meeting was informed that the virus positivity ratio has jumped to 8.53%.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 62.6 million and death toll tops 1.458 million.
