Committee to probe alleged audio clip of former CJP's son

Islamabad (Web Desk): Speaker National Assembly (NA) Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday constituted a special committee to probe the leaked audio of Najam Saqib, the son of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar.

According to a notification issued by the NA Secretariat, MNA Muhammad Aslam Bhootani will be the chairman of this 10 member committee, while Khalid Hussain Magsi, Sheikh Rohale Asghar, Naz Baloch, Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abu Bakkar, Syed Hussain Tariq, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Wajiha Qamar and Dr. Muhammad Afzal Dhandlah will be its members.

The special committee may take assistance from any institution and investigation agency for probe and inquiry into the audio leaks and submit its report to the national assembly after completion of comprehensive investigation.

It is pertinent to mention that on April 29, the alleged audio of former CJP Saqib Nisar's son Najam Saqib's conversation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket-holder Abuzar Chadhar from Punjab Assembly's constituency PP-137.

In the audio, the voice purported to be of Najam, can be heard claiming that his father had to work hard to get the ticket sanctioned and the caller on the other side, said to be of Chaddhar, can be heard saying he would come to meet Najam’s father after submitting the ticket.

The voice suggested to be Najam’s can also be heard asking Chaddhar to meet his father the same day and, in a conversation with another caller, identified as Mian Uzair, asking for “not only delivery of the goods, don’t take less than 120”.
