COAS Gen Bajwa, Uzbekistan's FM discuss matters of mutual interest

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), matters of mutual interest, overall regional situation including Afghan Peace Process and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.

“Both sides reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations including efforts for peace and security in the region,” the statement said.

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan's positive role for regional peace and stability, especially Afghan Peace Process and pledged to keep working for better relations between two brotherly countries.

Earlier, the Uzbek FM called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad as part of his two-day official visit to the country.

Both countries have been closely collaborating at regional and international fora, especially at the United Nations (UN), Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

The two countries are also closely cooperating to enhance regional connectivity, especially by early construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway Project between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
