COVID-19: Pakistan reports 395 new cases, 11 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,288,761 on Saturday after 395 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 477,721 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 443,794 in Punjab, 180,611 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,528 in Balochistan, 108,081 in Islamabad, 10,425 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,601 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 50,859 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.77%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,823 with 11 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,250, 427 after another 358 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC on Friday announced launching a special nationwide vaccination campaign for the transportation sector.

As per the NCOC, the vaccine is being administered by all federating units under a joint campaign from December 8 to 18.

Under the campaign, inspections will be conducted at entrances and exits of bus stops, toll plazas and interchanges, and all types of public and private intercity and intra-city transport will be checked.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 269.474 million and death toll tops 5,312,691.
