Pakistan’s COVID-19 recoveries reach 264,060

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 264,060 on Thursday after another 867 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 286,674 after 753 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 124,929 cases were reported in Sindh, 94,865 in Punjab, 34,947 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,044 in Balochistan, 15,323 in Islamabad, 2,402 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,164 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,139 with 10 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing recognised Pakistan's efforts to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.

"This is not a very easy achievement but a miracle achieved by the collective efforts of the government and relevant agencies," the Chinese envoy said while addressing a ceremony in Islamabad.

He maintained that Pakistan has the resilience and strength to overcome all the challenges they are facing.

"China will always remain a strong partner and close friend of Pakistan," the envoy said, adding that China is appreciative of Pakistan's support and solidarity when the virus first emerged in Wuhan.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 20.69 million and death toll tops 749,000.
