Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 265,624 on Saturday after another 409 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 288,047 after 747 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.
Overall, 125,632 cases were reported in Sindh, 95,203 in Punjab, 35,091 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,144 in Balochistan, 15,346 in Islamabad, 2,452 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,179 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,162 with 9 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates had a telephonic conversation to discuss Pakistan's Covid-19 response.
Bill Gates appreciated Pakistan's success against the novel coronavirus despite resource constraints.
The army chief said the success was executed through the mechanism of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) which allowed optimisation of resources.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 21.26 million and death toll tops 759,000.
