PDM Lahore rally: Case registered against Maryam Nawaz, other PML-N leaders

Lahore (Web Desk): A case has been registered against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders including Maryam Nawaz, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and others for causing damage to a national asset at Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Minar-e-Pakistan rally on Sunday.

Several other PML-N leaders, including Khawaja Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah Ahsan Iqbal, Talal Chaudhry, Ayaz Sadiq, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Rana Tanvir, Pervaiz Malik, Rana Mubashir, and Sheikh Rohail, Samiullah and Malik Afzal Khokar have also been named in the FIR.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of the security officer of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA).

The FIR includes 15 counts of violations, including a violation of COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures and the Sound System Act.

It added that the PDM administration broke the gate and fences of the Greater Iqbal Park to enter.

Earlier on Monday, two cases were registered against the PDM's Lahore rally for forcibly entering the Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore and holding a public rally.

The PDM, an alliance of 11 opposition parties, held its rally in Lahore despite authorities denying permission for it.

On the other hand, on Monday gave the PTI-led government a deadline of January 31 to resign or it will announce date of its long march on February 1 to topple it.

Addressing a press conference flanked by PML-N and PPP leaders at Jati Umrah JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said,

“If government does not resign by January 31 then the PDM will march on Islamabad.”
