COVID-19: Pakistan reports 473 new cases, 4 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,519,627 on Tuesday after 473 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 572,297 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 503,939 in Punjab, 218,268 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,442 in Balochistan, 134,859 in Islamabad, 11,641 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 43,181 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 34,401 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 1.37%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 30,313 with 4 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,471,288 after another 466 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has tested positive for COVID-19, he said in a video message on Instagram.

“Recently, we are all occupied with the war in Ukraine and increased prices, but the coronavirus is still here. I tested positive this morning and therefore will isolate at home and work from there,” Mitsotakis said, wearing a mask.

Mitsotakis, triple vaccinated against Covid-19, met with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul on Sunday.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 460,227 million and death toll tops 6,067,796.
