COVID-19: Pakistan reports 756 new infections, 13 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 305,395 on Thursday after another 315 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 321,218 after 756 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 140,997 cases were reported in Sindh, 101,237 in Punjab, 38,464 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,599 in Balochistan, 17,681 in Islamabad, 3,982 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 3,258 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,614 with 13 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has urged the people to take COVID-19 SOPs seriously.

In a tweets on Thursday, he said the government otherwise may have to take restrictive actions which will have negative effects on the livelihoods of the people.

The minister said there are unmistakable signs of rise of coronavirus in the country. He said the national positivity of COVID-19 cases was 2.37 percent on Wednesday.

This is the highest positivity in more than fifty days, he said, adding that 11 virus deaths on average were reported during the first four days of this week.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 38 million and death toll tops 1.08 million.
