COVID-19: Pakistan reports 3,239 new cases, 70 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,116,886 on Friday after 3,239 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 417,439 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 377,208 in Punjab, 155,153 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 31,755 in Balochistan, 95,491 in Islamabad 9,526 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 30,314 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 51,982 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 6.23%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 24,783 with 70 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,002,430 after another 3,027 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern extended strict nationwide coronavirus lockdown on Friday, saying the full extent of the Delta outbreak was still unknown.

Addressing a news conference, the lockdown will run until midnight on Tuesday.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 210.873 million and death toll tops 4,417,858.
