Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 911,302 on Thursday after 2,726 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 313,059 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 337,073 in Punjab, 131,027 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24,823 in Balochistan, 80,779 in Islamabad, 5,533 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 19,008 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 62,706 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 4.34%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 20,540 with 75 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 831,744 after another 3,901 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, who also heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), said on Wednesday that the registration of citizens aged 19 and above for COVID-19 vaccination will begin across Pakistan from Thursday (today).
In his post on Twitter the minister said, "In today's NCOC meeting, we decided to open up vaccination registration for all 19 years and above," Umar said in a tweet.
"This registration will start from tomorrow. So now, registration will be open for the entire national population which is approved by health experts for Covid vaccination," he added.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 167.958 million and death toll tops 3.492 million.
