Islamabad (Web Desk): The Foreign Office (FO) on Monday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and lodged strong protest over unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the Line of Control (LoC).
On July 28, an innocent civilian lady was martyred while three other civilians sustained serious injuries in Mandhar and Kirni villages in Nezapir Sector. In Kailer Sector, an innocent civilian was injured in Katchar village.
In a statement, FO Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said the Indian forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary are continuously targeting civilian populated areas with heavy weapons.
"The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws," the spokesperson said.
He said the ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
Dr Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the recent and past incidents of ceasefire violations.
The FO spokesperson He also stressed that Indian forces should respect the ceasefire in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
He urged that the Indian side should permit United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
