Pakistan's confirmed COVID-19 cases surge to 206,512

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan on Monday rose to 206,512 after about 3557 new coronavirus cases have surfaced in the country over the last twenty-four hours.

Overall, 74,778 cases were reported in Punjab, 80,446 in Sindh, 25,778 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10,376 in Balochistan, 12,643 in Islamabad, 1,442 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 1,049 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 4,167 with 49 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours while around 95,407 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

Nearly one-and-a-half months after imposing the lockdown across the country, the government announced to ease the lockdown in phases, however, the number of coronavirus cases has continued to soar.

Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Friday that some 189 additional oxygenated beds have been added in the government hospitals in Islamabad in the last four days to meet contingency requirements.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 10 million and death toll tops 497,000.
