Islamabad (Web Desk): District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Saturday granted bail to former premier and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in 10 cases registered against him over vandalism during the party's long march on May 25.
According to details, Imran Khan appeared before District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat along with his lawyer Babar Awan and PTI leader Shgehbaz Gill.
Khan had applied for pre-arrest bail in 15 First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against him at 11 police stations of the federal capital.
During today's hearing, Babar Awan said that 15 cases of the "same nature" had been registered against his client and requested that he be granted bail.
At this, the judge asked the prosecutor if he had any objections.
Later the court confirmed Imran’s pre-arrest bails in 10 cases and instructed him to submit surety bonds of Rs5,000 for each.
In another case, registered under sections of treason at the Kohsar police station, the court granted the PTI chief interim bail.
The court summoned the record of the case at the next hearing, scheduled on September 8.
On May 28, Islamabad police registered cases against Imran Khan and other leaders of PTI Including Shah Mahmood Qureshi Asad Umar, Asad Qaiser and others over allegations of arson and vandalism in the wake of the party’s Azadi march.
The cases were registered over blocking of roads, disrupting state affairs, attacking police personnel and damaging property.
The police had registered cases at the Aabpara, Kohsar, Tarnol, Lohi Bhir, Ramna, Bhara Kahu and the Secretariat police stations.
