Gaza (Web Desk/Agencies): At least 32 Palestinians were martyred in Israeli strikes in Gaza since the truce expired on Friday morning, Ashraf Al-Qidra, the spokesman for Gaza's health ministry said on Friday, according to the ministry's Telegram account.
Israel resumed bombing on Gaza after peace truce between Israeli and Palestinian authorities expired today.
The seven-day pause, which began on Nov. 24 and was extended twice, had allowed for the exchange of dozens of hostages held in Gaza for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and facilitated the entry of humanitarian aid into the shattered coastal strip.
In the hour before the truce was set to end at 7 am (0500 GMT), Israel said it intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza.
In the central Gaza Strip, Israeli tanks are also shelling near Nuseirat and Bureij refugee camps.
Sounds of explosions were also heard in the south, which the Israeli authorities had claimed safe for civilians.
Combat resumed shortly after Israel's army said it had intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza, the first from the territory since a missile launched minutes into the start of the truce on November 24.
Sirens warning of potential missile fire sounded around several communities near Gaza in the hour after the fighting resumed, and Israeli authorities said they were restarting security measures in the area including closing schools.
On the other hand, international media, quoting a source with knowledge of the talks, said that Qatari-Egyptian negotiations with both Israel and Hamas are continuing.
"Qatari and Egyptian mediators have been in contact with both sides since fighting resumed in Gaza on Friday, the source said."
More than 15,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7. In Israel, the official death toll stands at about 1,200.
