COVID-19: NCOC urges provinces to speed up vaccinations amid Omicron threats

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Thursday stressed upon the provinces to speed up the vaccination process amid rising trend of Omicron variant across the globe as vaccination is the only way to prevent the spread of new Covid variant.

The NCOC, in its meeting held in Islamabad today, discussed the epidemic curve chart data, national vaccine strategy and disease prevalence across the country.

The forum also discussed current status of production and distribution process of oxygen, city-wise COVID-19 vaccination process and agreed upon taking strict measures regarding obligatory vaccination regime.

The meeting was briefed about COVID positivity ratio, disease prevalence, number of deaths and new admissions.

On the other hand, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,285,631 on Tuesday after 377 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

As per the NCOC data, 44,137 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 0.85%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,745 with 8 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,242,718 after another 364 virus recoveries were reported.
