World Cup 2019: Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 23 runs

Chester-le-Street (Web Desk): Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by 23 runs in the World Cup 2019 clash at Chester-le-Street on Monday.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. Sri Lanka scored a massive total of 338 runs for the loss of six wicket in 50 overs.

Avishka Fernando scored 104 runs while Kusal Perera scored 64 to the total.

Chasing the target, West Indies lost early wickets and managed to make 315 runs for the loss of nine wickets; Nicholas Pooran scored 118 runs while Fabian Allen contributed 51 to the score.

Lasith Malinga took 3 wickets for 55 runs while Angelo Mathews and Jaffrey Vandersay took one wicket each.
