World Habitat Day observed

New York (Web Desk): The World Habitat Day is being observed across the globe today (Monday).

The theme for the day this year is "Resilient urban economies. Cities as drivers of growth and recovery".

In 1985 the United Nations (UN) designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day.

The day is observed to reflect on the state or condition of towns and cities and promote the basic right to adequate shelter or housing for all.

It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of human habitat.

First celebrated in 1986, Nairobi was the host city. The theme was “Shelter is My Right”.
