Major among 2 military personnel martyred in Balochistan terror attack: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): A major was among two Pakistan Two security personnel, including an officer, have embraced martyrdom while another soldier has been injured during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Balor area of Hoshab district of Balochistan, the military's media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a combat patrol of security forces was initiated in general areas of Balor, after credible intelligence with respect to move of a group of terrorists in Hoshab area.

The military's media wing said that the group was linked with firing incidents on security forces and civilians besides planting improvised explosive devices.

"While establishment of blocking positions to cut the escape routes was underway, a party of terrorists tried to ambush the closing in patrol and opened fire onto security forces," the statement said.

As a result of heavy exchange of fire, two brave sons of the nation Major Saqib Hussain and Naik Baqir Ali embraced martyrdom while another soldier was injured.

"Security Forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart such attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," the ISPR said.

Earlier, four law enforcers, including three police officials and a Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred on Sunday after police and Levies checkposts in the Dhana Sar area of Balochistan’s Sherani came under attack.

Police officials confirmed that the assailants opened fire on the checkpost, leading to the martyrdom of four personnel while a terrorist was also killed in the retaliatory firing. The official said that a search operation had started in the area following the incident.
