Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report): The Pakistan Peoples Party has won 10 seats out of the 12 seats from Sindh.
According to unofficial and provisional results, successful candidates include, Maula Bux Chandio, Mohd Ali Shah Jamot, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar. Dr Sikander Mengro and Rukhsana Zuberi won the technocrat seats while Anwar Lal Dean won the seat for minorities. Quratulain Marri won the election for the reserved seat for women. However, MQM managed to gain a seat.
PTI’s Mehr Taj Roghani and Azam Sawati secured the women seat from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Muhammad Azam Khan Swati from PTI and independent candidate Dilawar Khan won the technocrat seats from K-P. While PPP’s Rubina Khalid also won the reserved seat on women from K-P.
One senator from the JUI-F Molvi Faiz Mohammad made it to the list of Senators from Balochistan.
The other successful candidates from Balochistan include Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Anwarul Haq, Ahmed Khan and Muhammad Yousaf Khan Kakar.
National Party’s Muhammad Akram and independent candidate Kauda Babar won the general seats from Balochistan.
PML-N backed independent candidates Mushahid Hussain Sayed and Muhammad Asad Ali Khan Junejo won from Islamabad technocrat and general seat respectavily.
According to initial results, 11 candidates backed by the ruling PML-N have been elected on 12 seats from Punjab.
The independent candidates backed by PML-N have won six general seats from Punjab Assembly, while PTI’s Chaudhry Sarwar managed to grab a seat. The party's candidates have also won all the technocrat, women and minorities seats from the province as well.
Twenty-three PML-N candidates are contesting elections as independents after a Supreme Court verdict nullified all decisions taken by former PML-N head Nawaz Sharif, including issuance of party tickets.
Meanwhile, four independent candidates have been elected to the Senate from FATA.
Polling for 52 seats of the Senate held on Saturday. A total of 133 candidates are vying for Senate seats in the elections.
