Punjab closes schools from Monday due to surge in Covid-19 cases

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab government on Friday announced closure of schools from September 6 to September 11 due to surge in COVID-19 cases.

“All Public & Private Schools of Punjab to be closed from September 6th to September 11th, 2021 due COVID 19 conditions. Please stay home and stay safe. Protect yourself and your families,” Provincial Education Minister Murad Raas said in a tweet.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,17,1578 on Friday after 3,787 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 26,035 with 57 new deaths.

At least 435,159 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 397,694 in Punjab 163,677 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 100,242 in Islamabad, 32,329 in Balochistan, 32,484 in Azad Kashmir, and 9,993 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
