COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,519 new cases, 63 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 585,435 on Thursday after 1,519 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 258,904 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 174,191 in Punjab, 73,007 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,084 in Balochistan, 44,921 in Islamabad, 4,957 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 10,371 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 13,076 with 63 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 555,242 after another 987 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced that the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL-6) has been postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases among the players and officials.

The decision was made after an emergency virtual meeting between the organizing committee of PSL-6 franchises and Pakistan Cricket Board.

Earlier, the PCB confirmed that three additional players from two different teams had tested positive for the coronavirus, adding they will now undergo self-isolation for 10 days.
