COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,376 new infections, 30 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 317,086 on Friday after another 421 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 340,251 after 1,376 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 148,343 cases were reported in Sindh, 105,856 in Punjab, 40,148 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,033 in Balochistan, 20,967 in Islamabad, 4,332 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 4,572 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,923 with 30 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the federal and provincial governments have issued multiple warnings over the past few days, urging the public to follow COVID-19 SOPs, but so far held off on any new lockdown measures to contain the virus.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 48.6 million and death toll tops 1.23 million.
