Army officer among four martyred during anti-terror operation in KP's Tirah: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Four soldiers including a lieutenant colonel of the Pakistan Army were martyred while the security forces killed three terrorists in exchange of fire during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted in the Tirah area of the Khyber district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) following the reported presence of terrorists, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the conduct of the operation, own troops led by Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Hassan Haider effectively engaged the terrorists’ location during which three terrorists were also injured.

"However, during the intense exchange of fire, four soldiers including Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Hassan Haider, a resident of Islamabad, Naik Khushdil Khan, a resident of district Lakki Marwat, Naik Rafique Khan, a resident of district Charsadda; and Lance Naik Abdul Qadir resident of district Murree embraced martyrdom," the military's media wing said.

The statement said that sanitisation operation is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

"Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR said.
