COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,293 new cases, 6 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,301,141 on Friday after 1,293 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 484,985 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 446,676 in Punjab, 181,614 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 33,655 in Balochistan, 109,093 in Islamabad, 10,429 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,689 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 51,145 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 2.52%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,961 with 6 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,258,086 after another 239 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government is launching emergency plans for COVID-19 vaccination of housewives across the province.

In a statement, Member Sindh Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary of Health Qasim Soomro said that corona vaccination has been found to be extremely low among non-employed and housewives.

The parliamentary secretary said the training of lady health workers is underway and door-to-door vaccination would be started from next week.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 300.914 million and death toll tops 5,490,631.
